The Year Gone By: Reflections on 2023
2023 has been a year marked by renewal, energy, and constant movement. We have taken significant steps to optimize and enhance our production.
Streamlining production in Composite department
It became a year focused on LEAN with many new initiatives and changes. A new plan for more streamlined production was initiated. From January onwards, we moved swiftly. We relocated injection molding machines, departments, and skilled employees to the new, state-of-the-art production hall and shuffled around the other existing production halls. An entire production hall, which was logistically inconvenient for our daily production flow, was transformed from production to storage.
Assembly and Logistics
With increasing demand from our customers, we expanded our capacity in assembly and finishing of components. This also required a reconsideration of our raw material storage and soundproofing of our grinders.
LEAN & Innovation
Our commitment to LEAN principles became even stronger. We introduced LEAN boards, established environmental area, and set up coordinators to ensure even better communication, coordination, and systematic improvement and problem-solving.
Digital Advancements
By buying a 2K injection molding machine, five new robots, and an electronic data collection system, we positioned ourselves even stronger in automation and efficiency.
Newly Built Office
In 2023, we constructed a new operational office in the composite department closer to production and dedicated to the employees handling operations. The office was inaugurated at the end of September. Since then, it has met our expectations, and our communication has become significantly more efficient and advanced.
Growth and Partnerships in the Tooling Department
In the tooling department, we have ensured a strengthened ERP solution and executed development projects in collaboration with, among others, Grundfos and DAMRC, aiming to challenge and develop Unika's skills. We have generally explored new avenues to meet the demands of our quality-conscious customers.
2-Year Anniversary
In May, the tooling department celebrated the two-year anniversary of relocating Grundfos's AME machine department with 20 employees and a corresponding number of machines to Unika Denmark.
Everyone pulled together to deliver an ambitious project to a new client. A project where we are testing new solutions to deliver high-end products to an extremely quality-conscious customer.
New Heat Pump
On the energy side, we have invested in another heat pump system, this time in the tooling department. The final connection is expected to be in early 2024, and then we will supply even more private houses in Ans City with heat.
The Future
As a teaser for 2024, we proudly introduced Axel Christian Thøgersen as our new CEO from January 2nd. His visions and ideas will undoubtedly continue our journey towards even greater success.
A Greeting from All of Us
2023 was fantastic, but we are even more excited about what 2024 holds! We would like to thank our customers, business partners, employees, and friends for their unwavering support.
Merry Christmas and a Happy New Year filled with happiness!
