DM (Danish Championship) in Skills is more than just a competition;
It's a celebration of the diversity and opportunities within vocational education. And Kamilla, our talented tool setter apprentice, was there as an ambassador for the profession of plastic molding during the event on April 18th to 19th, 2024.
At a time when the profession for injection molding is facing challenges in attracting new talent, several young people who are undergoing training made a great effort to highlight the versatility and exciting opportunities at the injection molding booth at DM in Skills. They were active at the Industrial Education booth, where they demonstrated injection molding techniques.
At a set-up injection molding machine, visitors could gain insight into how the machine was operated and have a pair of sunglasses made. In addition to demonstrating techniques and injection molding sunglasses for thousands, insights into the injection molding profession were also shared with school counselors and others who play an important role in advising young people about their educational choices.
In a conversation with a concerned mother seeking more sustainable alternatives, Kamilla managed to nuance the image of plastic and its applications. She emphasized the importance of information and education in understanding different types of plastic and their environmental impact.
Because the tool setter education is not just about shaping materials, but also about shaping the future. With the opportunity to specialize further as a tool setter injection moulding specialist, the profession opens doors to a world of innovation and sustainability.
